Gary Madden
Gary Madden joined the ITS Board in 2002, and served on the Publications Committee under the guidance of Erik Bohlin. With Erik's promotion to ITS Chair in 2004, Gary serves as Chair of the Publications Committee. Gary is Professor of Economics at Curtin University of Technology, Perth Western Australia, and Director of the Communication Economics and Electronic Markets Research Centre (CEEM). Gary's research is primarily focussed on examining empirical aspects of communication economics, electronic markets, productivity measurement, cost of living indexes, real options, network economics and digital divide issues. As Director of the CEEM, Gary organizes workshops and conferences on various topics in telecommunications policy.
Gary is Editor of Frontiers of Broadband, Electronic and Mobile Commerce, published by Physica-Verlag; and the Edward Elgar series, The International Handbook of Telecommunications Economics, Volumes I-III. Gary has published articles in the fields of industrial organization and aspects of the economics of networks (telecommunications and the Internet in particular) in scholarly journals including Review of Industrial Organization, Review of Economics and Statistics, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Forecasting, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Information Economics and Policy, Applied Economics, Journal of Media Economics and Telecommunications Policy. Along with Russel Cooper he has a book commissioned by Edward Elgar, The Industrial Dynamics of Network Electronic Markets (New Dimensions in Network Series) slated for delivery in 2005.
Gary is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Media Economics and serves on the Scientific Committee of Communications & Strategies. Gary is an economic advisor to Australian government and international agencies. He is a Special Consultant to NERA Economic Consulting for the Asia-Pacific region.
